SUMMARY:Fundamentals of Vacuum Heat Treating
DESCRIPTION:Solar Amospheres presents: Fundamentals of Vacuum Heat Treating\nSolar Atmospheres is a commercial heat treater primarily in vacuum\, producing clean bright results with limited to no distortion. “Fundamentals of Vacuum Heat Treating” will walk through the environmentally friendly process\, vacuum furnace design\, pyrometry for temperature uniformity\, and inert gas quenching.  Examples of several materials and processes will be showcased through photos of actual product applications. Use of engineered fixtures\, tooling and various high temperature resistant materials to minimize distortion through the thermal cycling process will also be discussed.  Solar Atmospheres position in the additive manufacturing space will be mentioned as well as the medical and aerospace markets served. \nSolar Atmospheres is NADCAP (National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program) and MedAccred accredited\, ISO/AS9100 approved and gained approvals from many corporate prime contractors.  Solar Atmospheres has five facilities – Corporate Headquarters in Souderton\, PA.\, Hermitage PA.\, Fontana CA.\, Greenville SC and Warren MI. \nPresenter: Tim Steber\n \nTim Steber began his career as a Machinist and pursued his degree in Mechanical Technology while working.  He served as a Design Engineer for aseptic packaging equipment\, and later with Vacuum Furnace Systems designing vacuum furnace hot zones\, furnace chambers\, water systems\, and inert gas quench systems.  He is currently Regional Sales Manager for Solar Atmospheres\, a quality driven vacuum heat treater. \n\nEducation – A.A.S. Mechanical Technology\, Lehigh Carbon Community College\nExperience – 40+ years – Machinist\, fabricating\, Mechanical Design Engineering and Technical Sales\n\nTim served as Chair of the Philadelphia Chapter ASM International\, and is a current member of PMA\, Mid-Atlantic district.  He has offered presentations to Precision Metalforming Association regionally and nationally. He was also an Adjunct Lecturer at Lehigh Carbon Community College and is a technical presenter at Lehigh University. \n
